OpenAI said it will stop supplying models to Cursor on 12 November after SpaceX closed the acquisition. Lambda raised about 1 billion dollars of short-dated debt to buy Nvidia chips it will lease to Microsoft. OpenAI says it will cut Cursor models after SpaceX deal
OpenAI said it notified SpaceX that it will wind down the contract supplying OpenAI models to Cursor, with a proposed shutoff date of 12 November 2026. The lab said it cannot be confident SpaceX will use the models within its terms of service after the change of control.
A desk coding tool can lose frontier-model access when a lab invokes a change-of-control clause.

Lambda raises 1 billion dollars in debt to buy Nvidia chips
TechCrunch reported, citing Bloomberg, that Lambda raised about 1 billion dollars of short-dated private debt arranged by JPMorgan to buy Nvidia chips it will lease to Microsoft. The raise follows a 926 million dollar loan this month for Nvidia GB300 systems.
Frontier clusters are being financed with GPU-backed debt, not just hyperscaler cash.

EPA proposal would drop public notice on data-center air permits
The Verge reported that the US EPA plans to eliminate a federal rule requiring public notice and comment when certain industrial sites, including data centers, apply for air permits. The public comment period closed last week after thousands of comments.
Central buildout is hitting local opposition; Washington is trying to clear the permit path rather than shrink the clusters.

Anthropic opens a standard for agents to run lab machines
Anthropic opened a research preview of the Model Hardware Standard, a shared specification for AI agents to operate lab and factory devices such as microscopes, liquid handlers, and robotic arms. The company said it will open-source the standard after safety work with partners including HHMI Janelia.
Agents leaving the chat box still sit on frontier-lab models, even when the hardware is on a bench.

Michigan AG asks regulators to wall off data-center costs
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel filed testimony asking the Public Service Commission to cut DTE Electric's 474.3 million dollar rate request to no more than 134.5 million dollars. The filing says large-load data-center studies would shift generation and grid costs onto existing customers and asks for a separate large-load rate class.
Clusters can still get built; Michigan is trying to stop household bills from underwriting them.
