Akamai said Thursday that Anthropic committed $11.6 billion over seven years for CPU capacity on Akamai Cloud, and Akamai issued Anthropic a warrant for up to about 5 percent of Akamai common stock. SoftBank priced about $11.1 billion of notes and said the proceeds will fund a $10 billion payment for OpenAI expected to close on October 1. Google said it will put Tensor Processing Units on a prototype satellite next week. Ollama published a release candidate that runs supported models on Apple Silicon through MLX by default.

A person who wants Claude still pays Anthropic. The $11.6 billion buys Akamai's processors, and the warrant is Akamai stock, not a download. The install that changes a desk this morning is Ollama's release candidate, which points supported models at the Apple chip already in the machine. Google's next flight carries Google's chips. It does not carry a computer home.

Akamai said Thursday that Anthropic committed $11.6 billion over seven years for CPU capacity on Akamai Cloud, under project plans dated September 18. Akamai issued Anthropic a warrant for up to about 5 percent of Akamai common stock, at $111.33 a share, and said capital spending tied to the commitment is about $5.5 billion.
-- A household does not get a file or a machine. It gets whatever Anthropic chooses to rent out later, at Anthropic's price.

SoftBank said Thursday it set terms on about $11.1 billion of dollar and euro notes, including dollar coupons of 8.625 percent, 9.250 percent, and 9.750 percent. The company said the proceeds will fund a $10 billion payment for the last tranche of a $30 billion follow-on investment in OpenAI, expected to close on October 1.
-- The coupon is what lenders charge SoftBank to own more of OpenAI. A household that uses ChatGPT still pays OpenAI, not SoftBank.

Google said Thursday that Project Suncatcher will put Tensor Processing Units on a prototype satellite on SpaceX's Transporter-18 rideshare, built with Planet. Google said ground tests showed its Trillium chips survived a radiation dose greater than a five-year mission, and that the orbital test is meant to measure launch stress, radiation, and cooling.
-- The chips go to orbit on Google's test, not onto a desk. A household cannot rent that satellite.

Ollama published a release candidate early Friday that runs model architectures its MLX runner supports on Apple Silicon by default. The project said it will test and enable more models during the candidate, and the note did not name a price.
-- A person with an Apple machine can run those models without a new cloud bill, if the weights already fit on the desk.

Anthropic committed $11.6 billion to Akamai for CPU capacity over seven years. SoftBank priced $11.1 billion of notes for a $10 billion OpenAI payment. Google will fly its own chips next week. Ollama's release candidate runs supported models on an Apple machine by default. The cluster still holds the contract.
