Reflection AI said Monday it is introducing Beam, a model with 501 billion parameters and 23 billion active on each token, and that the weights will not be public until later this month. The Verge reported that OpenAI will test picture ads in ChatGPT in the United States later this month, citing a Monday announcement. Foxconn said September revenue was NT$1.15 trillion, about $36.5 billion, the first month above NT$1 trillion. Nokia chief executive Justin Hotard told CNBC that customers would build data centers twice as fast if supply allowed.

Foxconn booked NT$1.15 trillion in September, about $36.5 billion, and said cloud and networking sales rose because customers kept buying AI products. Justin Hotard told CNBC the constraint is memory chips and energy, not a shortage of buyers. The Verge said OpenAI's picture ads will sit on the free image tool and stay off Plus, Pro, and Enterprise. A file promised for later this month does not move the order book.

Reflection holds back Beam weights

Reflection AI said Monday it is introducing Beam, a text model with 501 billion parameters and 23 billion active on each token, trained with a reinforcement-learning run of more than 100 million rollouts on 10,500 Nvidia GB300 chips over four weeks. The company said the weights, under an Apache 2.0 license, will come later this month, after red-team testing, and that early access is a waitlist.
-- A household cannot download the file today. The local copy is a date on a blog, not a model on a desk.

OpenAI will test picture ads in ChatGPT

OpenAI will begin testing visual ads in the United States later this month, and they will first appear when a person asks ChatGPT to generate an image, The Verge reported, citing a Monday announcement. The paper said the ads stay separate from the generated image, do not change ChatGPT's answers, and will not show on Plus, Pro, or Enterprise plans.
-- The free account is the product being sold. A paid plan is how a person keeps the picture generator clear of ads.

Foxconn posts NT$1.15 trillion for September

Foxconn said September revenue was NT$1.15 trillion, about $36.5 billion, up 38.42 percent from a year earlier, the first month the company has cleared NT$1 trillion, Taiwan News reported from the Monday filing. Third-quarter revenue was NT$3.02 trillion, up 47.12 percent from a year earlier, and Foxconn attributed cloud and networking growth to demand for AI products.
-- The company that assembles the servers booked a record month. That is an order book, not a laptop.

Nokia chief says customers would build twice as fast

Nokia chief executive Justin Hotard told CNBC on Monday that if his customers could build data centers twice as fast, they probably would, and that he does not think the industry is overbuilding. CNBC said shortages of memory chips and energy are among the constraints Hotard named.
-- The delay is parts and power, not a lack of buyers. A home account does not get a faster answer from a building that cannot be switched on.

Reflection previewed Beam and said the Apache 2.0 weights come later this month, after a training run on 10,500 Nvidia GB300 chips. OpenAI will test picture ads when a person asks ChatGPT to make an image. Foxconn booked NT$1.15 trillion in September and tied cloud growth to AI products. Nokia's chief said memory chips and power are what slow the buildings. The cluster still holds the training run, the free account, and the server order.
