Huawei launched the Atlas 960E SuperPoD on Thursday at Huawei Connect in Shanghai, calling it the first SuperPoD to use near-packaged optics. Deputy chairman David Wang said one pod can scale to 4,096 NPUs, deliver 8 exaflops at FP8, and replace about 48,000 conventional 800G optical modules with 5,500 Hi-ONE engines, cutting more than 550 kilowatts.

Anthropic said Thursday that Claude, working inside Claude Science, optimized more than 30 open-source biology models in under four weeks, speeding them up about 4 times on average. The lab published the code and said a new low-memory mode can predict biomolecular systems larger than 10,000 tokens on a single Nvidia GPU node, after earlier binder work had spent up to $10,000 per target on Modal, or about 2,500 H100 hours.

Anthropic said Friday it is partnering with Accenture on independent evaluation of frontier models, with Faculty, Accenture's AI unit, embedding evaluators inside the company with access comparable to an employee's. Anthropic and Accenture each expect to invest at least $1 billion over five years, and Anthropic will fund Accenture's work directly because no pooled or government payer exists yet.
