Anthropic said Tuesday that Claude Opus 5.5 lists at $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens, 20 percent below Opus 5. OpenAI said the same day that GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna are half the API price of the prior Sol and Luna series. Apple put the new Mac mini and Mac Studio on sale, and said a Studio with 512GB of unified memory arrives in late October. New Era Energy & Digital filed a 20-year contract for up to 207 megawatts from a Vistra gas plant in Odessa, for a data center with no named tenant.

A household that wants a cheaper chat bill still pays Anthropic or OpenAI by the token. A household that wants the model on its own desk can buy the $899 mini today, and has to wait until late October for the 512GB Studio. The Odessa gas is not for that kitchen. It is reserved for a data center that has not named a customer, and the $116 million letter of credit is what the developer posts to hold the contract.

Anthropic said Tuesday that Claude Opus 5.5 matches Claude Fable 5.1 on most work and lists at $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens, 20 percent below Opus 5. The company said its own tests put typical workloads 40 percent cheaper to run than Opus 5, and priced cache reads at $0.20 per million tokens.
-- The cut lowers the bill on Anthropic's meter. It does not put the model on a kitchen table.

OpenAI said Tuesday that GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna are in the API at half the price of the GPT-5.6 Sol and Luna series, a cut the company attributed to caching and inference. OpenAI said an internal test, based on conversations where users flagged mistakes, found GPT-6 Sol makes about half as many mistakes as its predecessor.
-- Half price is still a charge from OpenAI, not a file a household can keep.

Apple said Tuesday that the new Mac mini and Mac Studio are in stores, with the M6 mini starting at $899 and the M5 Ultra Studio starting at $5,499. Apple said the M6 mini is up to four times faster on its own AI tests than the prior mini, and that a Mac Studio with 512GB of unified memory arrives in late October.
-- The machine on sale today is the $899 mini. The 512GB Studio that would hold a large model is not in the store yet.

New Era Energy & Digital said Monday, in a securities filing, that a subsidiary signed a 20-year contract for up to 207 megawatts from Vistra's 1,180-megawatt gas plant in Odessa, Texas, for a data center with no named tenant. The filing says the company must post a $116 million letter of credit within 15 business days, and that Vistra's duty to deliver depends on conditions through December 31, 2027.
-- The gas is reserved for a hall with no named customer, and the letter of credit is the developer's bill, not the neighbor's.
