The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday that President Trump has named Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton to lead a White House panel on artificial intelligence, with 120 days to say what the federal government should do. Amazon Web Services chief Matt Garman wrote Friday that the company will add more than $1 billion over five years in U.S. towns that host its data centers. David Robinson, who wrote OpenAI's safety reports, quit and said the lab ships systems and fixes problems later. Meta published code so a person can build a small device for its Muse agent. A household does not sit on the panel, and the town money does not include the power the buildings use.

Clayton told the Journal the panel is there so the country stays first. A person does not get a seat, and the intelligence chief keeps his other job. The safety writer said his colleagues were too busy shipping to change how the lab is staffed. The free circuit board does not include the model.

The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday that President Trump has named Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton to lead a White House panel the administration calls the Super Intelligence Force. Clayton told the Journal the group has 120 days to report on the risks and opportunities of the technology and on what the federal government should do.
-- The panel writes a report. It does not, on this account, set a new rule a household can read tonight.

David Robinson wrote in The Atlantic on Saturday that he led the safety reports for OpenAI's major launches and is leaving after three and a half years. He said shipping first and fixing problems later guarantees failures, and an OpenAI spokesperson said the company pauses training when it needs to slow down.
-- The person who wrote the launch reports says the lab is not careful enough. OpenAI says it still holds models back when it chooses to.

Amazon Web Services chief Matt Garman wrote Friday that the company will add more than $1 billion over five years for education, job training, energy bills, and water in U.S. towns where it runs data centers. He also wrote that Amazon no longer uses nondisclosure agreements with government agencies on those projects.
-- The money is for the neighbors. It does not replace the electricity the buildings draw.

Meta said Friday it is publishing open-source firmware and a Linux kit so a person can connect its Muse agent to a hobbyist board, a screen, or a stick that plugs into a television. Nat Friedman, head of product at Meta's Superintelligence Labs, said the company made 5,000 home-network devices and is giving them free to Muse subscribers while supplies last.
-- A person can own the box. The agent still runs on Meta's service.

Clayton told the Journal he will lead a panel the administration calls the Super Intelligence Force, and that the group has 120 days to report on risks and on the federal role. Amazon offered more than $1 billion over five years to data center towns and said it no longer uses nondisclosure agreements with agencies on those projects. Robinson left OpenAI after writing the safety reports for major launches. Meta's gadget code lets a person own the screen. The model and the power contract stay with the companies that rent them.
